Angeline Saris is an abstract painter whose visual work is rooted in the same improvisational spirit that has defined her internationally recognized career as a bassist. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, years of performing, touring, and recording with artists including Todd Rundgren, Adrian Belew, Ernest Ranglin, Narada Michael Walden, and most recently Carlos Santana on his 2025 album Sentient, have shaped her belief that the most meaningful ideas emerge through intuition rather than rigid design.

Approaching the canvas much like an improvised piece of music, Saris begins without a predetermined image, allowing color, gesture, and instinct to guide each painting. Fascinated by the expressive power of pure color, she preserves the integrity of every hue, building compositions from small, unblended brushstrokes that retain their individual identity while contributing to a dynamic whole. Like musical notes in conversation, these vibrant marks generate movement, energy, and emotion, continually morphing into forms that invite personal interpretation.
