Angeline Saris is an abstract painter and internationally recognized bassist whose visual work reflects the improvisational spirit that has defined her musical career. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, she has toured and recorded with artists including Todd Rundgren, Adrian Belew, Ernest Ranglin, and producer/drummer Narada Michael Walden, and most recently appeared on Carlos Santana’s 2025 release of “Stranger in Moscow.” She has also performed alongside Melvin Seals and Jay Lane of Dead & Company.
Years of improvisation in music have shaped Saris’s visual language. Rather than beginning with a fixed image, she allows each painting to reveal itself gradually through the act of making. Fascinated by preserving the integrity of each hue, she allows colors to exist in their own vibrational fields, building compositions that feel energetic, balanced, and alive.
For Saris, painting is another form of improvisation — a space where intuition leads and discovery becomes the work itself.
